Wellington to Wakefield

On Saturday, Feb. 25 we left our home in Masterton for our South Island trip.  First we stayed a couple nights in Lower Hutt near Wellington for the weekend.  We stayed in an Airbnb place owned by a family who are planning a trip around the world!  Always neat to meet different people.  Sunday we joined the Reformed Church of Wainuiomata and met some more wonderful believers.  In the afternoon we had the opportunity to climb the hills nearby with our hosts and other than losing Sophie for a terrifying 15 minutes it was very nice!

This panorama shows Wainuiomata on the left and Lower Hutt on the right.

We were up bright and early to catch the 9:00 ferry from Wellington to Picton.  It was a gorgeous day to take the ferry.  Bright blue skies and not much wind - beautiful!

Entering the Marlborough Sounds.

After the ferry we took the scenic route to Nelson.  Extremely windy roads and gorgeous views!

Check out the boat we saw!  Haha!

Our home for the night in Wakefield - about 30 minutes from Nelson.  It's an old Dutch Barn converted into a cottage.  Very neat place!

And bonus...it had a hot tub :)
